BloomMap is operated by Anna Baranova ("BloomMap," "we," "our," or "us").
This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and share personal information when you use the BloomMap mobile application ("App"), the website at bloommap.cc ("Website"), Garden Studio services offered by Anna Baranova, planting plans and other digital products, email newsletters, or otherwise communicate or interact with BloomMap.
This Policy describes our privacy practices. It does not require you to agree to uses of your information beyond those described here.
1. Information we collect
Information you provide directly
Account information. When you create a BloomMap App account, we may collect your email address and, if provided, your display name.
Garden content. When you use the App, you may create or upload garden photographs, garden maps, plant locations and pins, plant names and categories, planting dates, notes, additional plant photographs, and other garden information you choose to add.
Garden Studio inquiries. When you inquire about Garden Studio, we may collect your name, email address, city, state or country, a description of the garden area, its approximate size, what you would like to change, how you heard about BloomMap, and other information you voluntarily include. You do not need to submit detailed property photographs during the initial inquiry unless specifically requested.
Garden Studio project information. If your project is accepted, we may ask for garden and property photographs, approximate measurements, sunlight and shade information, moisture and drainage observations, soil information you know, existing plants, tree and root conditions, garden problems, style and planting preferences, maintenance preferences, project goals, and other information relevant to the agreed project.
We may also maintain consultation notes, Garden Direction Summaries, planting plans, revisions, and other records created while providing the service.
Communications. If you contact us by email, inquiry form, support form, or another method, we may collect your contact information and the contents of your communication.
Newsletter information. If you subscribe to BloomMap emails, we collect your email address and information needed to administer your subscription. You may unsubscribe from marketing messages at any time using the link in those emails.
Purchase and transaction information
App purchases. Purchases and subscriptions made through the BloomMap iOS App are processed through Apple. BloomMap does not receive your complete payment-card information from Apple.
Garden Studio purchases. Garden Studio payments are processed through Stripe. BloomMap may receive your name, email address, amount paid, payment status, date, and transaction identifier, but does not directly store your complete payment-card number.
Digital products. Some planting plans or other digital products may be sold through a third-party commerce or payment provider identified at checkout. Payment providers process information according to their own privacy policies.
2. Information collected automatically
Usage and analytics information. When you use the App or Website, we may collect limited information such as pages or screens viewed, App opens, features used, gardens or plants created, interactions with features, purchase-related events, Website visits, and other aggregated or event-based usage information.
Device and technical information. We may collect device type, operating-system version, App version, browser type, approximate technical location derived from network information, crash reports, and performance or diagnostic information.
Cookies and similar technologies. The Website may use cookies or similar technologies for essential functions, analytics, security, and remembering certain preferences. Where required by law, we will request consent before using non-essential technologies.
3. How we use information
We may use personal information to:
- provide, maintain, secure, and improve the App and Website;
- create and manage App accounts and display garden information you create;
- provide customer support and diagnose technical problems;
- analyze product and Website usage;
- process purchases and communicate about transactions or subscriptions;
- review Garden Studio inquiries and determine whether a project fits the service;
- prepare for and provide Garden Direction Sessions, summaries, and planting plans;
- communicate about scheduling, project materials, payments, deliverables, revisions, and follow-up;
- maintain appropriate business, accounting, and transaction records;
- send marketing messages when you have subscribed;
- protect BloomMap and its users from fraud, misuse, and security threats;
- comply with legal obligations; and
- enforce applicable agreements.
We do not use personal information to create advertising profiles or serve targeted advertisements. BloomMap does not display third-party advertising, and we do not sell personal information for money.
4. Garden Studio privacy
Garden Studio projects are private by default.
Purchasing or participating in a Garden Studio service does not give BloomMap permission to publicly use your property photographs, garden photographs, project description, Garden Direction Summary, planting plan, before-and-after photographs, testimonial, name, or project location for marketing, social media, articles, portfolio work, or case studies.
If we would like to feature a project publicly, we will ask for separate permission. Giving permission is optional and is not a condition of receiving Garden Studio services.
5. Portfolio and case-study permission
If you separately authorize public use, the permission will identify what BloomMap may use. This may include selected property or garden photographs, before-and-after images, project excerpts, planting-plan images, a testimonial, your name, or a general location such as Raleigh, North Carolina.
BloomMap will not intentionally disclose more identifying information than the permission allows. You may contact us regarding future use of materials for which you previously granted permission. Where reasonably possible, we will honor requests concerning future use on channels controlled by BloomMap.
7. Data storage and security
We use reasonable administrative and technical measures intended to protect personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, loss, disclosure, or misuse.
Information may be stored using BloomMap's own systems and third-party infrastructure used to operate the App, Website, communications, and Garden Studio. No electronic transmission or storage system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Data retention
App account and garden data
We generally retain App account information and associated garden content while your account remains active. If you delete your account, we aim to delete associated personal information and garden content from active systems within 30 days, except where retention is required for legal, security, fraud-prevention, backup, or other legitimate purposes.
Garden Studio inquiries
Inquiry information that does not become an active project is retained only as reasonably necessary to respond, understand prior communications, maintain appropriate business records, or comply with legal obligations. When no longer reasonably needed, it may be deleted or anonymized.
Garden Studio project records
For completed projects, we may retain service agreements, communications, consultation notes, project information, deliverables, payment records, and correspondence for as long as reasonably necessary for customer service, business recordkeeping, accounting, tax, legal, or dispute-resolution purposes.
Project photographs and measurements
Garden Studio photographs, measurements, and similar property information are retained only as reasonably necessary to prepare, deliver, support, or document the service, unless continued retention is reasonably required for legal or business-record purposes or you separately permit portfolio or case-study use.
Payment, accounting, and newsletter records
Transaction and accounting information may be retained as reasonably necessary for accounting, tax, fraud-prevention, and legal obligations. Newsletter information is retained until you unsubscribe or it is no longer needed to operate the mailing list, subject to records needed to honor an unsubscribe request.
9. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, applicable privacy laws may give you rights to request access to, correction of, deletion of, or a copy of certain personal information, or information about how it is used or disclosed. Rights may be subject to legal exceptions.
To submit a privacy request, contact [email protected]. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling certain requests.
App account deletion
Where account deletion is available through the App, you may use that feature to request deletion of your App account and associated garden information. You may also contact us for assistance.
Marketing emails
You may unsubscribe using the link in a marketing email. Unsubscribing from marketing does not prevent communications reasonably necessary for an App account, purchase, active Garden Studio project, requested service, or other transaction.
Device permissions
The App may request access to your photo library or camera when needed for functionality you choose to use. You can manage these permissions through your device settings.
10. International users
BloomMap may be used outside the United States. Depending on the provider involved, personal information may be processed or stored in the United States or another country where BloomMap or its providers operate. Those countries may have privacy laws that differ from the laws where you live.
Where applicable law requires specific protections for international transfers, we will use appropriate measures required by that law.
EEA, United Kingdom, and similar jurisdictions
Where data-protection law requires a legal basis, BloomMap may process information based on performance of a contract, legitimate interests in operating and securing BloomMap, consent when specifically requested, or compliance with legal obligations. Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw that consent for future processing, subject to law.
11. Children's privacy
BloomMap is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that such information was collected without appropriate authorization, we will take reasonable steps to delete it.
12. Third-party websites and services
BloomMap may link to websites or services operated by other companies, including Apple, Stripe, nurseries, retailers, and other sites. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies, not this Privacy Policy.
13. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as BloomMap's services, technology, or legal obligations change. When changes are material, we may provide notice through the Website, App, email, or another reasonable method where appropriate.
The Effective Date at the top identifies the current version.
